Hello Sarah: This is my SALE family.I'm not interested in joining the DAR but would love to know if one of the men from my line was in the Rev War. My SALE line is William 1638-bef 1704, his son Cornelius abt 1666, his son William 1692, then William b.1720/25, then Cornelius b. abt 1725 and his son, William born abt 1770...etc. I suspected that Cornelius 1725 and his son, William may have both served in the Rev War. What do you have on them?
I assume you have a transcription of the elder William Sale's Last Will in which he mentions son, Leonard. If not I'll send to you.One researcher thinks that the elder Wm served in the war, he says " "There is a record of the imprisonment of William Sale II during the Revolutionary War". - source Barry Wood William Sale (c. 1720-1788) served in the war, even to the point of becoming a POW, and several if not all of his sons fought for the patriot cause." "My understanding of the imprisonment is that it involved William and others of the Wilkes County militia taken by the redcoats in their devastating incursions into North Carolina." source: Barry Wood
I know some of these family members did move on to other states. I'll give a look for your Thomas OLVEY to John OLVEY in documentation.
Thank you for your time and good luck, Debbie Wood
