Mrs. John Ortlep, nee Gronewald, died on Sunday (Apr. 18) morning at her home on the south side of town, following an illness of several months duration. About six weeks ago she became worse, since which time she had been confined to her bed. Everything that loving hands and skill could do was done to minister to her comfort and prolong her life.

To this union four children were born, one having preceded the mother in death. A few years ago Mr. and Mrs. Ortlep came to this village to live their remaining days. They led quiet, consistent lives.
Mrs. Ortlep is survived by her bereaved husband, one son, Frank, of Charlotte; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Harms, of Chatsworth, Mrs. George Harms, of Charlotte; two brothers and one sister in Germany, and five grandchildren.
The funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Chatsworth Evangelical church, conducted by Rev. M. Gronewald, assisted by Rev. E. Vaubel, and the remains were laid to rest in the Chatsworth cemetery.
