Osborne (Osborn) Children ??
Does any one have "children" for these Osborne folks???
"I certainly don't pretend to have any expertise on the Osborne family, but have done 42 years of research on the Sizemore family. I am not aware of any proof of the parentage of Elias Osborne, but do note that the given names he used for sons were somewhat similar to that of the known Ephraim Osborne family.
A genealogy of several years ago by Ronald M Osborne and Jo Boyd Osborne speculated that Elias was the son of Jonathan and grandson of Ephraim Osborne.
Another researcher concluded that Elias was probably the son of Robert Osborne Sr and his second wife Ann Howard, and that Robert was born ca. 1743 and died 1820 in Barren Co, KY. That researcher believed that Robert was the son of Ephraim Sr and grandson of Jonathan. That work stated that Robert Osborne and Ann Howard were married ca. 1762 in Shenandoah Co, VA and that their children were: (1) John Osborne 1763-1854 born in Shenandoah Co, VA, (2) Ephraim Osborne b. 1765 in Shenandoah Co, VA, (3) Robert Osborne Jr b. ca. 1766 in Rowan Co, NC, (4)Bartholomew Osborne b. ca. 1768, (5)Jeremiah Osborne b. ca. 1770, (6)Elias Osborne b. ca. 1774 who married Sarah Ann Sizemore, and (7) Ann Osborne b. ca. 1775 who married Richard Hall
Good Luck in proving the ancestry of Elias Osborne. Given names of children are a reasonable clue, but only count for so much. I have a similar problem in trying to prove the parentage of Rachel Osborne who married Elisha Blevins. That couple used more Osborne given names than Blevins names in naming their children Jonathan, Ephraim, Solomon, and Elisha as well as Mary, Elizabeth, Andrew, James, Rachel, and Nancy. Rachel and husband Elisha Blevins lived in the same area of Prathers Creek in Ashe County (now part of Alleghany County) in the very early 1800's.
