I'm cross-posting this, as there are so many spelling variations on this name!
I've been looking for information on my great-grandmother Neva Osburn (Osborn, Osborne; b. 1889), married in Oklahoma around 1905 to Joseph Willis Cowles. She had a younger brother named John. A friend of mine who is helping me gave me some information from the 1900 US Census in Oklahoma, in which an Eliot and Martha Osborne are listed with their 6 children, including an Olivia Osborne (age 11)and younger brother John (age 9). My friend also directed me to Find A Grave, where I found Martha (b. 1848) and Elek (b. 1847)Osborn. Elek is an interesting name, but I have found the name used by other people; and "Elek" could be recorded as "Eliot"...Both of them died in 1905, and when I did a Google search of Oklahoma deaths in 1905, I came across an account of the 1905 Snyder Tornado.
These may not be the people I'm looking for--although I'm hoping, these are the best clues I've gotten so far!--and may not have died in this tornado, but I find the coincidences intriguing. Is anyone else doing research on Osborns/Osbornes/Osburns in Oklahoma, particularly Elek/Eliot and Martha? Does anyone have any information on the tornadoes that occurred in Oklahoma in 1905? Thank you.
