Hi Denis--it's betty from albq--david and tony's mom.
Hi--in the 1880 census M.R. Otero,39, bday abt 1841 is listed. I think the M is for Manuel. His wife's name is Ana Maria Otero--home is listed as Peralta, Valencia County, NM. Household member include, Francisa-18,Adelaida-15, Eduardo-14, Juan-8,Virginia-6, and Oscar-1 year old. There are other household members (4) but with different last names: Barbara Perez-15, Adelfinia Perez-8, Pasqual Brito-80 and Dorotes Sisneros-50. My father is Oscar, born in the early 1920's- is a direct descendent of MR, I was told he was named after a grandfather named Oscar also. My dad's father's name was Tomas--(married BarTola Chavez in 1921 at St Augustine's at Isleta) still of valencia county, and I believe Tomas' father was named manuel or juan???
The second thing is, is that at Mt Calvary Cemetery in Albuquerque--at the No E Santa Barbara section, is a tall, upright, broken grave marker with the name "Oteros" and under the name is Oscar Manuel and Melba--there is no date or Catholic motifs inscribed on the monolith--in the same area is another marker also upright for Francisca, age 33 with the a Jewish type motiff, giving the death date of Sept 20, 1804. bettyanne otero metzgar (cousin to roseanne)
