I am seeking information on Chicago Police Officer (Badge #2148) Dennis O'Toole (1864-1916), my great-grandfather. Dennis O'Toole died on April 13, 1916, and is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery (Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A). Census reports indicate that he might have been born in Ireland. The following is his obituary that ran in the Chicago Tribune on April 14, 15, and 16, 1916:
O'TOOLE - Officer Dennis O'Toole, beloved husband of Catherine, nee Kehoe, found father of Dennis, William, Geraldine, and Kathleen and the late Sylvester. Funeral Monday at 9 a.m. from late residence, 5521 Peoria st., to Visitation church, where solemn requiem mass will be celebrated; autos to Mount Olivet. Member of Court Wisdom No. 3799, I.O.F., and Policemen's Benevolent association, Amboy, Ill., papers please copy. Friends wishing seats call Yards 662.
I was hoping for more information from this obituary (birthplace, birth date, and names of parents and siblings) but was glad I was able to locate it after all these years! I would, of course, be most grateful for any other information you might learn about him or any of the rest of my O'Toole ancestors!
