Hi Dennis
This looks like a positive match.
Since I wrote this message a year ago, I've found out the following.
I have Matilda Overbury's marriage certificate. She did indeed marry Joseph Smith on 6/8/1883.On the certificate, Joseph is listed as a 'fitter', but I know he was a pressed-tool maker as was his son.
Joseph's father is listed as William Smith, a butcher
Matilda's father is William Overbury, builder.
I've found William on the 1851 census where he's listed as a plasterer from Cheltenham, Glos, although he's living in Wynn St. Birmingham.
I strongly suspect he married someone called Matilda Bratt, a French Polisher, although I currently have no idea how I found this out at the moment as my notes are sketchy.
William and Matilda had two other children besides Matilda jnr., Eleanor Overbury ch. 17/12/1851 (IGI) and Henry Overbury (neither of these is certain yet).
I'm pretty certain I've done research on this branch of the family which is not in my main notes file yet.I will try to update over the next few days and let you know if I find anything else.I suspect I have got Matilda's birth certificate somewhere which is how I know her mother's name, but as yet I can't find it.
One last thing, Matilda and Joseph Smith had two children that I know of, Joseph Henry Smith (my g grandfather) and Lily Smith.Hope this is of help.
