Hi, I would like to say about those killed in the Seaham pit disaster of 8th Sept. 1880 those I know to be in my family tree.
Robert Rawling killed aged 39, husband to Margaret Ann Pearson (aged 40 in 1881 census). They had a daughter called Jane Rawling. She married Edgar Crane of Cransford. Jane was born at Waggon Rows, Usworth, Chester-le-Street, Co. Durham on 28th Feb. 1867.
Edgar Crane lived at 21 Cornish St. Seaham. Edgar was a survivor of the explosion at the pit.
James Ovington brother of Margaret Ovington who married Robert Crane. Ovington family lived at 22 Cornish Street. James was killed also in the accident.
