Sarah Ann Oxendine & George Thompson, N.C.
On the World Connect Project: FAMILY TIES, I found in the family of George and Sarah Ann Oxendine Thompson, a daughter, Lucy Matilda Thompson, born about 1812, in Robeson County, N.C. I believe that she is my great-great-great grandmother, the same Lucy Thompson that is found in the 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses of Bladen County, N.C. as a white female. In the 1880 census of Columbus County, N.C., she is listed as mulatto. Her children were: John Thompson, b. 1828, Sarah Thompson, b. 1835, James W. Thompson, born about 1835, Lucy Matilda Thompson, born Nov. 21, 1842, Martha Thompson, born abut 1842, and Barney B. Thompson, b. 18522. My question is: where did the information come from concerning this daughter of George and Sarah Ann Thompson’s name and year of birth? Any help I can get to verify that my Lucy Matilda Thompson, also born about 1812, is or is not the same person would be greatly appreciated.
