Research done by Carolyn Whittaker
My mother Helen Oyler recently passed away. While going thru papers I found a copy of what Carolyn Whittaker posted on the Oyler genealogy reference the adoption of her father Eugene Oyler (Whittaker). Some of what she has said is fabrication. She came one summer to my grandmothers and we did not go to Coffeyville shopping as my grandmother did not drive.I do not know where she came up with this memory but it is wrong and the part about Helen Oyler and Donald Oyler her fathers adopted father not being married is a falsehood. We saw very little of this side of the family, occasionally at holidays, and when her father found out he was not adopted (and it was not my father who told him as he was deceased at that time) they came to see my mother and kept referring to the two people Ruby and Charlie Oyler by thier first names as if they were just aquaintices. My mother told them if they were mad at someone they should be mad at the woman who gave him away because she had found herself another man and he did not want Gene.So she threw him away and even though he was only 50 miles away never tried to make contact with him, and she knew where he was.He should have been thankful that two such giving people adopted and made him thier son.Carolyn after who knows how many marriages took the name Whittaker. I am not sure why she researched the Oyler genealogy as she is not related to any of us.We thought she was our cousin and even after we found out Uncle Gene was adopted she came to my mothers house and stayed with her, and repayed her by posting such a horrible thing on the internet as NOT MARRIED.I have papers on my parents marriage. My mother never once tried to do anything to retaliate because she was not that way.I am that way.Carolyn Whittaker I AM GLAD that you took the name of the woman that gave away your father because I would be ashamed to ever think that you were of my blood
