Re: Ozuna = Osuna
The story that I was told was that my grandparents were from somewhere around Mazatlan and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1923.They spelled their last name with a "s" (Osuna). When the kids started grade school, the teacher changed it to a "z" (Ozuna) because it was possibly easier for them to say.(I learned this from my uncle Frank who is 80 years old just this last week.) My grandparents had 14 children. My father Marcelino Gonzales Ozuna was the first one born in the states. My grandparents names were Marcelino R. and Eleobarda Osuna.I know that there were some relatives around Mexicali also.
Most all of my dad's family is still in Las Vegas almost 80 years later.
