Wight gives the birth date of Bertram Everett Packard as 1 Mar 1876 and death date as 10 Dec 1945, both at Augusta, Kennebec Co., Maine; his marriage to Helen Estella Bisbee on 20 July 1910 at Bethel, Oxford Co., Maine.
Wight gives Bertram's parents as Edward Toby Packard and Lois Addie Lapham, their parents, and the Packard ancestry back to Massachusetts and England. I will provide additional information if desired.
Wight's references to his sources are skimpy but he obviously did a great deal of research. He incorporated Packard data from prior genealogical works and collected much additional data. He was a resident of Lewiston, Maine. He is particularly strong on Packard residents of Maine and Massachusetts and other New England states and has some data on Packards who left New England. He was a member of the New England Historic Genealogical Society of Boston. Wight died in 1951.
Wight's work was never published; it exists only as a typescript, complete with typographical errors.
As indicated by his title, Wight reports on Packards descended from the emigrant Samuel who came to Hingham in 1638 from England. Other Packards have come to this country but are believed to be few in number and primarily later in arrival. Several other Packard lines, with far fewer numbers, have been identified by amateur genealogists in recent years which have not yet been traced to Samuel of Hingham or to other Packard immigrants.
