Hi Janet,
You've done so much good work on this. Here is a link to the historic records of the Essex Institute of Salem, Massachusetts. http://books.google.com/ebooks?id=524MAAAAYAAJ&source=gbs_slider_user_shelves_7_homepagehttp://books.google.com/ebooks?id=524MAAAAYAAJ&source=gbs_slider_user_shelves_7_homepage
It, and other of their google books at that site are free and contain much information - from official sources that can be verified - on our Jersey ancestors who escaped the Huguenot persecution in France, settled on Jersey, Channel Islands and aligned themselves with the English there. That is how that particular family group came to call themselves L'Anglois. Many of the settlers in Salem came from Jersey, Channel Islands.
That is well documented, and you may find the information you are seeking in one of their FREE records. You can read their publications on your computer. I found documentation through them that is in the Essex County Court Records.
I found a Quebec marriage record for Jean Pain that also might be interesting to you, and I will see if I can copy it to you within a day or two. It is handwritten, of course, and old, but if you can read French you may be able to shed even more light on this fascinating family, and I would be very interested in your take on it.
Best wishes
