Mr. Basel,
I wonder if there might not be a connection between our Pankow families from Mecklenburg, Germany. According to records collected by a great aunt of mine, my great great grandfather was Christopher H. V. Pankow who was born in Penzin, Mecklenburg, Germany, in 1829. He married Sophia Koeltzow and one of their sons was Heinrich Freidrich Pankow (1866-1933). Heinrich married Henrietta Peters and they moved first to Hamberg and later to the US. They and their sons arrived in this country via Ellis Island, where they landed on the ship Amerika on April 1, 1906. They lived for a time with a Lorenz family (family connections of some sort, I believe) before obtaining their own land in the vicinity of Blue Earth, Minnesota. One of their sons, Herbert Heinrich Gustauf Pankow (1898-1972) married Alice Althea Wilhelmina Matson (1900-1984). One of their sons was Kenneth Oscar Pankow, born 1936, my father.
I would be most grateful for any information you could provide me about the Pankow family in Mecklenburg, Germany.
Regards,
John Field Pankow
Asheville, NC
