Steven, I am not commenting here on the Williams.I can tell you that "transporting" back in the day meant to pay for the ship's trip or passage of someone like a family member or an indentured servant or some other person.The ones frequently reported in the American colonies were from some English port to Virginia, etc., but at other times they were reported in the upper colonies, in Barbados, and other outposts.For a one-time passage fee per person, the person who paid the transport could claim as much as 50 acres colonial land from whichever granting authority was operating at the time.It was a very effective method of populating the colonies.
