Re: Peter Passon of Indian Territory 1896
I don't know if our Peters are one in the same, but they might be.
I am a direct descendant of Peter Parson -- who is referred to as Peter Passon in some places.
My Peter Parson is my GGG-grandfather.From what I've pieced together he was probably born between 1826 and 1834 in Cherokee Nation East and travelled over the Trail of Tears as an orphan at the age of 12.Actually, according to one of my cousins, he wasn't born as a Parson or Passon -- he was orphaned at some point and adopted by a Methodist minister and his wife, Samuel and Sarah "Sallie" Parson/Passon.
My Peter Parson's Cherokee name is Kil-lah-nee-cah.
He apparently married three times:Darkey, Margaret Sanders (c 1864), and Hannah (nee Hawkins) Wyrick (after 1894).
Peter Parson was a stonemason and died 26 Feb 1900, before the Dawes enrollment.
I have several John Rogers in my family tree.
I hope this information has been helpful.Let me know if you think this is the right Peter :-).
