Hi Susan:I'm afraid my information on Benjamin and his family is almost entirely from the "Naval History of the Patey Family".My next step should I ever get accross the Atlantic is to look up the papers of J. Brooking Rowe who is mentioned in the introduction the the "Naval History. My web research has pointed to two manuscripts in the Devon Record Office. Perhaps they could be of use to you. the references are:
Rowe, J.Brooking. Notes on Devonshire parishes and families. - Manuscript , [1880]. - 396p ; 20cm. - Brooking Rowe bequest 1908. (Record no: 35302)
WSL: s920.02/DEV/ROW
Rowe, J.Brooking. Notes on Devonshire families and churches. - Manuscript , [1900?]. - 2 vol.. - Brooking Rowe bequest. (Record no: 35486)
WSL: ms929.3/DEV/ROW
I'm willing to look up or send you anything from the "Naval History"
In addition to this I've found out a bit about the later naval career of George Patey who commanded the Austrailian Fleet in WW1.
I would be gratefull for any information you could share with me.I am particularily interested in any Patey's who could have moved to Newfoundland in the 1820's.I would be glad to look up anything in the Naval History for you.I have a huge collection of data on Newfoundland Pateys from the 1820's on that may also be of interest. contact me at my home email if you want
Thanks
Bob
