James PATTIE, Lowick Northumb, UK 1800s
Seeking information about the ancestry of my great-great-grandfather James PATTIE, miner of Lowick, Northumberland, England. He was born ~ 1817 (parents James Pattie/Jane Curl) and married a Grace HORNE at Bethel Chapel, Lowick in 1846. The family moved to Holy Island (Lindisfarne) for a few years then came to Australia on board the 'Great Britain' in December, 1863. They settled in the Ballaarat district of Victoria, residing at Burnbank Street, Ballaarat. Members of the family still lived in the house until fairly recent times. James died in 1877 at Talbot, Victoria whilst his wife Grace died at Ballaarat in 1871. Any information, photos (copies - reimbursed costs of course!), anecdotes, family stories greatly welcomed. Contact from distant cousins much appreciated. Regards, Rob Bell, Gladstone Park, Victoria, Australia.
