Thank you so much, Lisajean, for all your research and wending your way through the inevitable mis-transcriptions in the records. The information you provided has enabled me to stride forward with this family, but inevitably there are new brick walls!
FGHPattison died 3/3/1928 at Wentworth: led me to his burial in St Andrews Anglican Cemetery, Grimsby Township, Lincoln County, Ontario, but no date found yet
Ontario Marriage for FGHP and Elizabeth Blain: all the details I can check fit, and the mis-spellings are wholly understandable.Their marriage date is confirmed by the GROS record, see below
Henrietta Pattison's born 25/10/1886: now found in the LDS FamilySearch database - mother's surname probably = FREND [see marriage registration 3rd Qtr 1885 at Lambeth, Surrey, England]; she was actually Henrietta Elizabeth, and was buried in the same cemetery as FGHP.
Birth of GBPattison: confirmed by the 1891 & 1901 Censuses, and in the LDS.No trace so far of his marriage or death - but it seems he became an actuary with the Manufacturers Life Assurance Company.Travelled to the USA in November 1911 - then what?
1891/1901 Censuses:
Daughter H E or Henrietta Ermra probably Henrietta Emma . . . but no confirmation found.
Son Charles Edward : ah-ha, the GROS Statutory Births record shows him born 9th May 1896 in Glasgow, Scotland, and FindMyPast has a record of he & his parents sailing back to Canada aboard the vessel Labrador, ex-Liverpool, on 8th August 1896.Sadly he died in an aircraft accident while serving as a Captain in the RAF - a sub-page of <
I've tried to find these good people in the 1911 Ontario Census, but failed!
Further rummaging has produced a little more:
Charles Edward had a sister Mary Margaret born about 1907, who married Robert Sproul McIntyre on 11 August 1943 - both buried in the Fifty Cemetery, at Saltfleet Township, Wentworth County, Ontario, but dates & places of death unknown - as she was 36 when married there may have been no children.
Query: were any other children born to FGHP & Elizabeth between 1896 & 1907?The 1911 Census might tell us.
Henrietta (Emma?) Pattison married an Edward A. Haines at Christ's Church Cathedral, Hamilton, ONT, Canada on 10 April 1919, but their fates and possible issue are unknown.
Finally, it seems as though Henrietta Emma's younger sister, Rose Marianne, born 12 March 1890 at North Grimsby, may have died before the 1891 Census - no trace of her has been found apart from a burial record (undated) at St Andrews Anglican Cemetery.
Back in 2006 a Douglas Pattison was looking for information about Mary Margaret & Robert Sproul McIntyre - I've e-mailed him at his then address but had no reply yet.
Thanks again, Lisajean!
