Re: John Patton - my GrGreat Grandfather
Thank you for the information. While I had known about Duretta Patton Feaster, I did not know of your Martha or William.I do wonder what happened to Frederick.Perhaps he did die in the Civil War.Something to look into in the future, perhaps.
Duretta's birthdate is odd, as it is 3 years before her parents' marriage.I wonder if she could have been a daughter of either Frederick or Sarah by an earlier marriage.According to the birthdate you give for Sarah Jane Miller, she would have only been 16 when Duretta was born, so perhaps Frederick's, although I've never seen another marriage for him.She and Christian were close to the Andrew/William/Philip Patton families in Allen County, and a lot of the older generation remembered them as "cousins."Perhaps Duretta's death certificate would shed light on things, although as Martha's shows, this data is not always perfectly reliable.
In Duretta's obituary, there is a "foster sister" listed, Mrs. Orpha Markley.I suppose this is the Orpha Miller on the census records you mention.
I would be interested in data on Martha Mohler's children, also anything you may come across on William, son of Frederick.I had in my notes the possibility that Frederick & Sarah had a son Francis.I don't recall where that suspicion came from.
Do you know when and where Sarah Miller Patton died?
Thanks for the info.Let me know if I can help you further.
