Hi Maynard, I don't have any record of James Bogle marrying a "Susan" or "Susannah".The record I do have is a marriage record for James Bogle who married "Ann M. Pauley" 5 September 1865 in Giles County, VA.Ann M. Pauley's parents are listed as Joseph and Susannah Pauley. The interesting note is that James Bogle is listed as "widowed" in this marriage record. So my best guess is whoever the "Susan" was living with James Bogle, must have died prior to 1865.
Joseph and Susannah Pauley do have a daughter named "Susannah", who is listed in the 1850 Census of Gile County, VA at age 24, with her sister "Lavina Pawly, age 13", both living in the household of Charles and Ann (McNeil) Miller. (Charles Miller is also listed on the marriage record of Joseph and Susannah (McNeil) Pauley, 6 September 1823 in Giles County, VA.)So it is possible that Susannah Pauley married James Bogle, and then died prior to 1865, and James Bogle then married her sister Anna in 1865.I don't have concrete evidence of this unless you have some kind of proof that James Bogle married Susannah Pauley.
I would love to know more about your unknown source for Susannah Pauley and James Bogle.
In the 1850 census for Giles County, Ann Pawly, age 21, is living in the household of William and Emily Hobach, and William Pawly, age 12 is living in the household of Lorenzo and Martha Miller. In the 1860 Census, Ann-age 32, William-age 24 and Lavina-age 21 are all living with Susannah Pauley, age 64 in Giles County, Virginia.
