Frank HOLAN came to America in 1867 with wife, Catherina CHADIMOVA and their children Frank, Joseph, and Francisca HOLAN. Catherina died in Chicago in 1873.
Frank Holan's second marriage was in Chicago to CLARA PAVELKA.Clara was born around 1839 in Kalse (Kolave), Bohemia.She came to American on the SS Ohio North German Lloyd Ship Line of Bremen, Bremen, Germany to Baltimore, MD, 5 April 1873.She was accompanied by her brother Florian PAVELKA, age 38; his wife, Anna (ZAKORSKY (sp?)), age 37; their children,Theresia, 9; Adalbert, 4, and Franzisca PAVELKA, infant.
Clara PAVELKA & Frank HOLAN's first child, Anna HOLAN, was born in Chicago in 1876.The Holan family left Illinois for Nebraska in 1877.They came to Verdigre (Knox County) where they pioneered a large homestead about 3.5 miles north of Verdigre.Their children John, Vojtech, Charles and Mary HOLAN were born in Nebraska.
Florian PAVELKA and Anna (ZAKORSKY) also settled in the Verdigre area.Their children, Teresia PAVELKA married Frank HOLAN (Frank & Catherina's son).Adalbert PAVELKA married Francisca HOLAN (Frank & Catherina's son.Katherine PAVELKA (born in Chicago) married Joseph DROBNY.
