Re: PAYN--In & Wi
I have not looked at these old Payne letters in quite a while.I suspect there is some connection to your Payne family.
The connection is rather distant but here is what I know from old letters and old notations I have found.
Mary McClintock was the wife of Alonzo Payne of New York. They were the parents of Eliza Payne b 1854 who married Albert Page in Wis.Albert Page was the nephew of my ancestor Mary Fuller Bush and the son of Susan Alzina Fuller and Samuel Page.Apparently there was an earlier connection between the Fuller family (who were from N.Y. originally) as I have a letter to my great Grandmother Mary Fuller Bush from Mary Payne of (it looks like Palmyra, N.Y.) who mentions her sick child which they took to Danville, New York for treatment. This letter was written in 1870.I thought perhaps this was Mary McClintock Payne but it would appear to be a later Mary Payne as she mentions young children.
I did some research on the Payne family in N.Y. and I believe I found that Alonzo and Truman were of the same family.
