DNA tests show that I am a member of Lineage 1b along with the Isaiah Payne family that lived in SC.These families are thought to descend from Thomas Payne/Jane Smallpiece who arrived in MD in 1664 through Isaac Payne/Sarah Daulton who probably lived from early 1740's to early 1790's in Dorchester/Caroline Counties, MD.
I have found two persons with DNA that claim to be from Nehemiah descendants. One is listed in an Ancestry Family Tree and the other is on the FTDNA Payne Project chart:
162492 Benjamin Payne (b. 1780, Kershaw, SC, d. 1850.
What is interesting is that both men have a value of 32 at the DYS447 location.A John Payne (17312--1780) has the same value, yet I was told by a researcher that while there is mention of a Benjamin in family records he is not thought to be part of the immediate family of John Payne--perhaps a nephew. There is no further information on thisJohn Payne's family.(This researcher is the one who paid to have the DNA test on the Benjamin descendant to see if their was a family connection.)(On the FTDNA Chart look around #50804 for others with the DYS447 value of 32--they are most likely related, but I did not notice any otherswith really close results.)
