stephen, if you're sure about your english roots, i doubt there's any connection between your peglers and the peagler relations i've researched.as my dear aunt rosemary henderson noted, the early peaglers in south carolina were in all likelyhood german.the german name bichler would be phonetically close to pickler or pichler in english, thus was the way it was often recorded.and in the south, as is often the case, the 'k' sound was softened into a 'g' pronunciation.so pichler has been found in various documents as pigler, piglar and peagler.
