John & Phoebe Pease Hawkins Co TN /Virginia
For all Pease researchers in this line:
My great grandfather, John P. Austin, married the daughter of John & Phoebe Pease, Nancy S. Pease. If any of you hit a brick wall once you found John & Phoebe on the 1870 Hawkins County, TN census and don't know where to look you'll find them in Virginia.John Austin's family had been from Christiansburg area of Montgomery County, Virginia. He married Nancy after the war in 1866 in Roanoke County, VA.He and Nancy moved to Hawkins Co in 1866 and evidently John and Phoebe and most of their grown unmarried children did too. They were living right next door to John and Nancy on the 1870 census.Nancy and John had 2 children but she died in her 40's and he later married my great grandmother, Amanda Orick, who helped him finish raising the children he had by Nancy Pease. I have Nancy's dob, dod, marriage date, their children's dates, a picture of John's mother who of course is Nancy's children's grandmother & of John & one of their daughter when she was quite old with 3 of her girls that I would share with you although the Pease line doesn't affect me personally. Also Nancy's brother John C. Pease and another Pease man witnessed my great grandmother's Confederate Widow's pension application and it it they state they served in the war with John. By this they all had to have been from Montgomery County, VA because all of Co. B of the 4th Virginia were Montgomery County boys. You're welcome to email me for dates and pictures.I just hate to have all this and not pass it on to the Pease researchers.
