Pat,
Thank you for your quick response.I suspect that Anna may not have been an orphan.I suspect that her the Hattie E. Albee who married William Henry Gummoe, brother of Carlton Gummoe, was a sister to Anna Albee and daughter of Lorenzo and Melissa Albee who lived in Bethany, Wayne County, PA in the 1880 Census. The LDS website shows that Lorenzo married a Marie Bodie in Wayne County, PA on 3 May 1887.I suspect that the mother of Phebe, Hattie and possibly Anna died prior to 1887 and Lorenzo remarried. In the 1900 Census for Bethany, Wayne County, PA, Marie Albee is shown as a widow, which would indicate that Lorenzo had died prior to the Census. That would explain, Anna, living in a household other than her parents in the 1900 Census.By the time she married Carlton Gummoe in 1906, she was obviously an orphan.By the way, next door to your John D. Peck in the 1900 Census is a boarder named George Peck, who I believe is the brother of Anna's husband, Carlton Gummoe.Perhaps, the uncle connection to Anna was as a step uncle and there really was a relationship.Back then folks generally did not move too far from relatives, even distant ones.
