Re: Peelman Lancaster Co PA 1700s
This is what I have learned. Christian Pealman b. abt 1699 in Europe,(probably Alsace) died intestate abt 1759 (age 59 in court papers) His spouse, Christina UNK, died before he did, He is on a list of Lancaster Co., PA men who became Naturalized in 1729.
He had only daughters according to court records. According to "Orphan's CourtRecords" in Lancaster Co. 1742-1767 ,p.18 O.C. 20 Dec 1749 he had no male issue, was 59 at death, Michael Segrist and Jacob Shelley were appt. guardians.
Jacob Segrist and wife Mary had the property "confirmed" to them. They then had it valued, sold and distibuted the money amongst the heirs per later court proceedings.
Two daughters were under age when he died and unmarried, Elizabeth and Eva.
The oldest daughter was Mary b. abt 1730, m. Jacob Segrist/Seagrist/Sechrist (my line).
Other daughters were m. when he died; Anna m. Jacob Shelley; Barbara m. Hans Kugle; and Magdalena m. Christian Shelley. All mentioned in court proceedings.
Later Elizabeth m. John Hege/Hagy and Eva m. Jacob Mishy (1750-52)
Lancaster Co., PA deeds 1729-1770 compiled by R. Thomas Mayhil, A163 p.8; Orphans Court records;Each got 83 6/8 d. (pounds). 26 Dec 1749.
Christian Peelman had two tracts of land in Manor Twp. One 200A and one 19A.Pat. This is all spelled out in detail in court records, 13 Oct 1735.
