Ana de Pena/Cordoba, Spain 1630s
Maria del Rayo Caballero is the lynch pin in several families. She figures prominently in the ancestry of the Rodriguez, and Jurado families into which she married, and her own maternal, and paternal blood families.
Cristobal Caballero and Ana de Pena were born in the south of Spain, where they married in the Moorish city of Cordoba.
Together they immigrated to the frontier of Nueva Biscaya, what would become Chihuahua, in the mid-17th century.
They had a son by the name of Cristobal Caballero de Pena around 1650. On February 21, 1667 he married Maria Rodriguez de Zamora in Hidalgo del Parral, Chihuahua. She was born nearby in the town of Valle de Allende, Chihuahua.
Maria Rodriguez de Zamora was the daughter of Antonio Rodriguez and Catalina de Zamora, who were married in Valle de Allende.
Cristobal Caballero de Pena and Maria Rodriguez de Zamora had a son named Pedro Caballero Rodriguez.
Pedro Caballero Rodriguez married Maria Gerdtrudis Munos de Olbera (Oliveras) who was born in Valle de Allende.
Pedro Caballero Rodriguez and Maria Gertrudis Munos de Olbera had a son named Pedro Joseph Lino Caballero Munos, who was identified in his birth record as a Spaniard, although he was born in Valle de Allende, Chihuahua on May 10, 1733, So being Spanish was subjective, and not necessarily an actual nationality, or race as we know it today.
Pedro Joseph Lino Caballero Munos married Micaela Antonia Gertrudis Villalobos, also listed as a Spaniard, who was baptized on October 8, 1741 in Chihuahua, Chihuahua.
Pedro Joseph Lino Caballero Munos and Micela Antonia Gertrudis Villalobos had a son named Manuel Caballero Villalobos, who was born in 1793 in Santa Cruz de Rosales, Chihuahua, and died on January 30, 1842 in Huejotitan, Chihuahua.
They also had a daughter, Maria del Rayo Caballero, from whom I am descended through her marriage into the Rodriguez family of Huejotitan, Chihuahua.
I have come to a dead end in Spain. I don't know if there are any resources that could help me trace the family back beyond Cristobal Caballer and Ana de Pena. But I sure would like to!
Your help is appreciated.
