Brian Pendleton / Eleanor Price
Question #1) According to BRIAN PENDLETON AND HIS DESCENDANTS, 1599-1910, by Everett Hall Pendleton, "Brian Pendleton was married when he came to this country but we have not found his wife's family name. Her Christian name was Eleanor". Yet most genealogies have her as ELEANOR PRICE (b1599) (sometimes Prise). How do we know this? What is the primary source of this info?
Question #2) It is pretty clear that ELEANOR PRICE (b1599) was the dau of RICHARD PRICE and ELIZABETH CROMWELL (b1577/8), and that ELIZABETH was the dau of a THOMAS CROMWELL.But I have found conflicting data as to which THOMAS.The 1st choice is Capt THOMAS CROMWELL (b1559).His brother ROBERT was supposedly OLIVER CROMWELL's father. (according to www.tudorplace.com).The 2nd choice is THOMAS CROMWELL (b1552) who was a distant relation of OLIVER's, but a very important member of Parliament. His mother was ELIZABETH SEYMOUR, and his aunt was JANE SEYMOUR Queen of England.I think the 1st THOMAS is probably correct, but there are some problems with dates (He was supposedly 80yo when he fell off his horse and died). Also, I can't imagine a MP deciding to migrate to America in his 60's.
There is a potentially very interesting family link here, but there are some fundamental problems I am unwilling to take on faith.I'm sure others have been through this and I'm hoping for clarification and, mostly proof.
Thanks greatly,
Bill Tripp
