Hi, I am a grandson of George Charles Pengilley, husband of Dulcie Margarite (Coulton). They had one son William David and there were five daughters Merle, Connie, Daphne, Thelma and Mary. There was another son that was still born,as far as I know. I am the only son of Daphne Estelle who married Rex Charles Hand.
I met Cec a few times when I was very young and I think he died of Parkinsons Desease. I grew up at my grand parents' citrus orchard at Erina Heights and I remember there was a photo on the lounge room wall of a very Victorian looking gentleman (very stern and strict looking) which was William Roy Pengilley. I faguely remember conversations about the Stockdales, I thought they were mum's cousins.
I asked my grand father where we came from and it was always Quirindi but he used to say there's some convict blood that leads back to Cornwall.
Patricia Teesson is the only child of William David and is still living at Erina. I know Pat has the Family Bible (you know the type- big, thick and full of who married who information)and was very interested in the family tree back in the eighties. I have lost contact as I now live in Queensland. As long as I can remember the Pengilley's have been interested in horses, particularly the standardbred. George raced horses in the 40s & 50s until Bill was hit by a truck while driving a horse to the then Erina training track. The accident resulted in him loosing his leg. Its funny how things go round because I have never lost the love of pacers and I am currently breeding and racing horses in Qld.
Please drop me a line if there is anything else I can do for you. Maybe you could get in touch with Pat, she lives in Milner Road, Erina.
Cheers Greg.
