Re: penn's in Maryland
Hello William I am a Penn and a decendent of Mark L. Penn.
I am also a resident of Alexandria.I have been told by my father that his great grandfather Mark Lindsey Penn had built a coffin for " George Washington and had layed inside to check the size.
It seems that somewhere down the line we are related.
The following info I have is from research done on line but mostly at the Alexandria Library.
Alexandria Census of 1860 has the following listing.

I am related to William Thomas Penn (Willie)Born July 9, 1872 in Alexandria died August 30, 1958 in Alexandria
Married Ruth Lee Thompson ,Children, Milton Thompson Penn born Dec 24,1898 and died Feb 1979. Norman Epperson Penn born in 1909 and died as an infant.
From what I can tell Mark married twice and his first wife is believe to be an Elizabeth Ann ?. I would love to locate info on his parents William and Eleanor ? Where did your info come from?
