Looking for any info on the Percent name.
All I know is that the name used to be Piacente until the early 1900's.
Some time in the late 1800's, my great grandfather and ggmother came to the US from Sicily, and settled in New York City. My ggf's name was Salvatore Piacente (or Piacenti), and my ggm's maiden name was Maria Agnese Quagliana (I think). I don't have any idea what year they landed in the US, or their birth/death dates. They had several children, but they all changed their names -- many changed their names to Percent (my unusual last name). I know that my grandfather's Italian name was Vincenzo Piacente (b. 1894?, d.1947), but he changed his name to James John Percent. I also know I had Piacente aunts and uncles who became Percents: Charles (Italian name Angelino, b. 1899), George, Paul, Rose and Kathryn.
I am wondering if anyone has any information on the Percent name. Thank you in advance!
