Robert Perreau (1760-1811)

My gt-gt-grandmother was a Perreau,Frances Mary Perreau, daughter of Robert Samuel Pereau (1760-1811),who eventually became First Assistant to the Resident and Magistrate at Bencoolen (Fort Marlborough) Sumatra.She married Charles Day, an East India Co employee in Bencoolen.Did you know that Robert's father, also Robert, and his twin brother, Daniel, were hanged at Tyburn for forgery in January 1776.There is a very interesting book which has recently been published about this, "The Smart - the true story of Margaret Caroline Rudd and the unfortunate Perreau brothers" by Sarah Bakewell, Chatto & Windus 2001.This has some early family history in it.
