I forgot to add that the LDS have being doing genealogical research from the onset of its organization so if they were LDS then there will be records. LDS goal is to tie all families into one, and by means of proxy baptism allow the dead (saints in heaven) to become LDS as well. The caveat is that in the early days before good research tools available, individuals were able to make genealogical claims that have no basis in fact. They were either careless in their research or careless in their transcription of said data. Then too, as the IGI is a transcibed database, those who have imputted same may have been careless as well. However, IGI will take you to original microfilmed records of the primary data, not online yet.
