Edward John Petrie (1921-2014) Tucson, AZ
Edward John Petrie 2/7/1921 - 8/3/2014
Ed, a Tucson native, graduated from Tucson High and the U of A. He served in the First Cavalry during WWII. Two months after being discharged he met Loveda Ackley, another Tucson native. They eloped four months later and were married 68 years. Ed enjoyed his 32 years of teaching history for TUSD. He loved the outdoors, built cabins at Mt. Lemmon and Hawley Lake and took the family on many camping trips, including a drive to Alaska in 1969. He also enjoyed going to the auction on Friday nights and was known for always having a collection of cars. Ed loved to tell stories, especially about his time in the service. He is survived by Loveda; sons, Don and Keith and daughters, Linda Torok and Millie Bentley (Cary Birenbaum); seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Celebrate Ed's life with us on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tanque Verde Guest Ranch, 14301 E. Speedway. Bring a favorite story about Ed or come to hear someone else's.
