John Pettengill born abt 1793 Onondaga Co, NY

I have found John Pettengill/Pettingale in the Cicero, Onondaga County, New York Census' in 1840, 1850, 1860 with children.

in 1850 it lists the last name as Pettingel
in Onondaga County, New York

The two oldest children, Samuel and Jane are not Charlottes as they are too old to be hers.I am still looking for the first wife of John.

In 1870 the family is in Vassor, Tuscola County, Michigan without the father John.Charlotte is living with a man named Ebenizer Howard and another small family.She still has Nancy C, John H, and James (born abt 1862, Lydia is working as a domestic servant in Vassor, Michigan in the home of John Akins.

So that puts Johns death (?) about 1862-1870.I have been unable to find that also.

I am looking for anything to add to this line.Johns siblings, parents, and first wife.I know his second wife is Charlotte Brown born 1821 and died 1888 in Vassor MI.
Her parents are William and Eliza Brown, according to her death record, and her parents reside in New York and are divorced.

There is a man listed in the 1830 census Cicero, Onondaga County, New York, named John Pttingah but I do not know if this is the right one.
