I havecopy of the book "A Pettingell Geneaalogy,' Edited by John Mason Pettingell and arranged for pulication by Charles Henry Pope and Charles I. Pettingell areprint of the 1906 book by Dr. Pettingill now deceased, formerly a resident of CA and Utah Also I have an unbound copy of the same book, which has excellent indices. It was made from a 19906 book found in a Salt Lake City library R 919.9.2:P 51.
I have search the index and could not find all of the names that you cited. I found in back of the book a section titled "Samuel Pettingell , S1 Samuel Pettingell killed at the battle of Oriskany, aug 6, 1777; married Elizaeth Cline who was born in Holland, Europe, and died March 9, 790. Nellie and John Cline , brother and sister, who lived at Forida, N about 30 or 1840, were relatives of Eliabeth.
Samuel was a doctor...)Their 13 children are listed and described on pages 508 through page 533. It is stated by the editor that all that can be found concernng this man is contained in the sketch above, withe exceptio of a statment that he came from England in1730, for which no authority is given CIP.
A cousin wrote to me that I am the oldest Pettengill (of any spelling) I served in the Great Pacific War the one in hich the first shot was by US Navy vs. Japanese sub near Hawaii. That is the only way out of The Great Depression.
If you send me a mesage , I will be happy to search my material for the answer. My other name is Peshewa, Native American for a Wild Cat (Maine Coon cat).
You can obtain on loan a filmed version of my book at any Family History library.
