How wonderful to hear from you. What I am fairly sure of is that I am descended from Joshua Pettit of Spartanburg, SC.His brother's name was also Henry.Henry was in the Revolutionary War.He went to the war in the stead of his father who was working on Warford's Fort at the time. The father of the two boys Henry and Joshua is also believed to be named Joshua. But any further back and things get a little shady.Henry's Rev. Pension says that he was born on the Schulkill in NJ.But no one seems to be able to go any further back in our line than that...or at least I have seen no further documentation that proves where these men came from prior to moving to SC.I found the information in my last mailing with Henry Pettit's name.
The information that I have is (and I am not completely certain of how accurate these dates are)
Joshua the father 1734-1786
Henry the brother 22 Jan 1763-12 Oct 1838
Joshua my descendant 12 Sep 1775-29 May 1827
I tried to write to the only Henry Pettit that I could find in that area but the mail was returned as undeliverable.I was hoping to reach his family at least.I don't know that your Henry was an ancestor of mine and only had brief information in the website that I had found.I would appreciate if you could take a look at that file and see if you believe there is any possibility of a connection.
