Thanks for your advice. I have dealt with a specialty publisher, Otter Bay Books, LLC, that spun off from Genealogy Publishing Co. some years ago. As of last August, OBB published vol. II of my book, so I am done. Some price drivers are the following: This is not a mass printing (I ordered only 300 copies of each volume); the books contain many color illustrations; they are printed on sturdy, acid-free paper; and they are sturdily bound with handsome blue, hardbound covers with dull gilt labels. They are the size of and resemble an Encyclopedia Brittanica. Do your comments still apply under the circumstances just described? A librarian at LDS Library in Salt Lake City thinks my books are the best family histories she has ever seen! In any case, as word got around on the quality of the books, I sold out of volume I completely, and I have only about 88 copies of volume II remaining.
