Thank you, Eugene, for your reply. Those addresses were all occupied by the same family - Elizabeth Merrick, widow of William Merrick, her son Harry T. Merrick, and I am assuming his two children, Harry Wm. and daughter Gene. I just spent two days at the Phil. Historical Society, poring over the microfilms of handwritten, faded records looking for more information.I did find record of Elizbeth's death in 1902, but otherwise struck out.The city directories were much more informative.I found a couple of small clues that they were related to the more well-off Merricks of the city, yet their occupations were more in line with the working-class ranks (bartender, salesman, button-maker, dressmaker.)Harry Wm. became a vaudeville actor. This is the first time I've tried to research "city folks" - an eye-opening experience!
