I am trying to find out more about the above named person, who appears in the 1880 census of Kelley, Warren, Illinois (ED 290, pg 21 or 186-A, household 192/194).The head-of-household is David B. Steward (Stewart), and wife Sarah (her maiden name is Pilkington, daughter of Benjamin Walker Pilkington and Jane HENRY Pilkington).Listed with them are Richard Pilkington, 39, brother-in-law, miner, blind, b. PA, f.b. PA, m.b. PA; Sarah A Pilkington, 29, sister-in-law, insane, b. OH, f.b. PA, m.b. OH; Harry Pilkington, 6, nephew, b. UT, f.b. PA, m.b. OH; William Pilkington, 2, nephew, b. NV, f.b. PA, m.b. OH; Jane Horton, 67, mother-in-law, widowed, b. PA, f.b. PA, m.b. PA.
Jane Horton is Jane HENRY, b. abt 1815 in PA, maybe Bedford Co., daughter of (?) George Henry & Elizabeth Havener. She married Benjamin Walker Pilkington b. 1806 in York Co., PA, died 1844 in Somerset Co., PA., son of Richard Pilkington & Sarah WALKER.I'm trying to sort out who all of their children were.I know about Sarah Elizabeth, b. 1838, and James Henry, b. 1843 (my ancestor).Another researcher has also listed Jane & Margaret, birth dates unknown, but I don't know if they exist or not.It seems from this census that Richard, b. 1841, is also one of the children, but I'd never come across him before in the earlier censuses. (In 1840 only heads-of-households were listed, and I can't find Benjamin Walker Pilkington then anyway.By 1850, Jane HENRY Pilkington was a widow, living in another widow's household with her son James, age 6.Sarah, age 12, is living with James & Sarah Henry... brother of Jane perhaps? In 1860, Sarah Pilkington, 21, is in the household of Jonathan & Jane Horton.Judging from the 1880 census, Jane HENRY Pilkington has remarried, to Jonathan Horton.James Pilkington is a carpenter apprentice to Joseph Filler in 1860.In 1870, Sarah, age 32, is married to David B. Stewart and living in Warren Co., Illinois.I can't find James Pilkington or Jane Horton.)
Can anyone help me sort this all out?Thank you,
