Re: Pinker 1800's 1900's
Many thanks for your e-mail, it's great to meet someone who at least Knows about Samuel Alden, I've been chasing him since last year but I haven't been able to find anything , it was almost as if he had dropped of the face of the earth. One minute he is in Bristol (1882) and the next minute he had disappeared with his family. Samuel was an elder brother of my great great grandfather, Thomas York Alden. This is what I know about the family between 1871 and 1885. (Joseph) Samuel married Emmiline Pinker in Bristol in 1871, they had three children that I knowof, Ethel May born 1878, James Bertram born 1881 and Violet Emmiline who was born in Dec 1882. In October 1884, Emmiline and children, (no Samuel to my knowledge)sailed to Freemantle on the Helena Mena, (this information was very kindly given to me by Rod Pinker in Perth, Australia)and in April 1885, Emmiline re-married to Johnathan Redfearne; Also in December 1885, Samual's mother Susannah wrote her will and Samual is a benificiary. As you can see if Samuel was still alive when Emmiline reached Australia in 1884/5, why did she remarry? It's a bit of a mystery but I'd love to know what happened, especially if your information regarding Samuel's death 1939 is correct as he would be 90yrs old.
I haven't met any Pinker's in the flesh, so to speak, but Rod and I keep in touch and its nice to meet another Pinker.
I look forward to speaking to you again soon
