Steward/Stewart Pipkin NC>MS

I am pulling my hair out trying to determine which Steward/Stewart Pipkin belongs to which parents. We have 2 different Steward/Stewart Pipkins. BOTH born in NC in the 1780s. BOTH presumably died in Yalobusha County, MS. One married a Miriam Laws and the other married an Elizabeth (Stevens?). Can someone please tell me, without a doubt, which one is the son of Willis Pipkin & Sylvia Rhodes, and which one is the son of John Pipkin & (Elizabeth Stanley?)???

I found BOTH Stewards/Stewarts in the 1850 census - one in Yalobusha County, while the other was in Panola County. So this proves that they're NOT one in the same. Steward & Elizabeth have a daughter named Sylvia, so I would have thought that THAT Steward was the son of Willis & Sylvia. BUT other things I've seen in the net seem to have the Steward married to Miriam as the son of Willis & Sylvia. I am so confused! If anyone can help me figure out which one actually belongs with which set of parents, I would be very grateful. Thank you.
