Re: Pittam's of Chester Co., PA
I have very little on the Pittam side.I am wishing for more.My
gggrandfather Edward Pittam and wife Elizabeth, came from, I think,
Silverstone, Northamptonshire, England in 1833 with his family, I don't
know how many that would be, possibly George, Joe, Elizabeth, Ed and
James Harrison Pittam born March 22,1821(my ggrandfather). The only one
I know for sure is James H. Pittam. I think they settled in Chester
County PA.James went to Nauvoo, Ill. to the Mormons. He then left
there and settled east of Nauvoo in Hancock Co. Pilot Grove Township, in
Illinois. Where he died March 25, 1886.
We know there was a Joe Pittam in Thayer County, Nebraska who had a
daughter Ada in the late 1800's.Also in about 1860's?, Julia Pittam,
daughter of William & Caroline Pittam born June 15,1846(a cousin?)
from Northamptonshire, went to Thayer County, Nebraska. She was married
at some time to a Howes. In about 1890, she went to Illinois and lived
until her death, July 10, 1897, with my great aunt (James H. Pittam's)
daughter, Clementine Deliparetta Lookabaugh, who was a teacher. We do
not know what happened to Mr. Howes. Julia is buried in Pilot Grove
Cem.., in Pilot Grove Township, Hancock County, Illinois. Most of the
Pittam relatives are buried there also.
We have no information beyond this.I am hoping for more.
