John Pitts-Mary Margaret Bowers-Knoxville Tenn.

I am looking for the familyy of John and Mary "Mollie" Bowers Pitts, who lived and died in Knoxville, Tenn. Mollie was probably born in Greenville, Tennessee and later came to Knoxville after her fathter, Jacob Bowers, died.

Robert E. Lee Bowers had a sister Mary Margaret (Mollie) Bowers who married first Johnhop Moy 18 June 1890 in Knoxville, then John Pitts. Ada Clontz said that the marriage of Mollie Bowers to a Chinaman, Johnhop Moy, was not thought too fondly of by her family and they may have split up due to this attitude. Mollie was born on 12 October 1872 and died in Knox County on 29 March 1943. John Pitts was born October of 1869 and died in Knox County on 13 October 1938. Death certificate lists Mollie’s parents as Jake Bowers and Eliza Morehead. Parents of John Pitts listed as unknown.
