I am researching the family name of Plag.It has been found to be spelled with a 2nd g, and also spelled as Plog. The name is rare and comes from Germany, near the Rhine River. There are 2 lines of which one is Protestant, and the other is Catholic.Only the Catholic line spells their names both ways.My direct line is of Catholic heritage and my GGgrandfather is Wilhelm Plag(g) who immigrated to America with his children after the death of their mother around 1867 or 1868.Some of the families who have married into our family are as follows:Bill, Burlage, Schmidt, Gooch, Kelton, Yeager, Waite, Douglas(s,
and the children of Wilhelm are:
William Charles Plag(g) married Mary Ann Bill
Frank John Plag married Elizabeth Burlage
Peter Plag(g)married Nellie Nancy Bill
Matilda Plag married Arthur Bill
Helena (Lena) Plagg married Everhardt Schmidt
Mary Katherine Plag ?
Of these children, only one has not been located, and I am looking for any information, copies or help that you can give. Thanks so much for all that you can do!
