Hello Steve,
I find 11 marriages between Platts and Pecks. One branch of the Platt family seems to have intermarried with the Pecks like crazy.
Josiah Platt (1680-c.1759) had a daughter Frances (1718-aft. 1754) who m. Jeremiah Peck of Milford, CT on 10/26/1743.
Josiah's brother Joseph (my 6th gr grandfather)(1693-1767) had a daughter Sarah (1721-) who m. John Peck of Milford on 2/15/1750.
Josiah's son Nathan (1709-1778) of Milford and Woodbridge, CT m. 1) Elizabeth Peck who d. 5/17/1753.Their daughter Elizabeth, b. 3/19/1748/9, m. Samuel Fisk Peck of Woodbridge on 11/18/1773.And, their son, Nathan (1750-1813) m. Deborah Peck, daughter of Phineas Peck and Deborah Clark of Woodbridge, on 6/23/1774.
Now, that's a tangle!I don't have any evidence that any of these families went later to Vermont or New York, although there were Platts who did both.Nathan (above) had only daughters, and I don't know where they wound up.
I find no marriages with Hubert/Herbert or with Sumner. There was one Warren marriage:Isaac Platt (c.1742-1830) of Redding, CT had a daughter Rhoda (1772-) who m. Solomon Warren.
Remember, having a surname for a given name does not necessarily indicate a blood connection. It could indicate a business relationship or a close friendship between families.I searched for a while in vain for a connection with a Platt Benedict of Danbury, CT and finally had to conclude that the families were close. There were Platt/Benedict intermarriages, but not in this particular branch.
Sorry I can't find anything better!
Dick Platt
