Greetings--The following obit appeared in the Meyersdale Republican on 31 July 1902:
"Platter At her home in Addison township, Somerset county, Pa., July 26, 1902, Mrs. Sarah Platter, aged 53 years, 4 months and 5 days.
Mrs. Platter was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Handwerk, now deceased.She was born and raised in Summit township, this county.Her surviving brothers and sisters are Elias, John and Samuel Handwerk, Mrs. Susanna Johnson, Mrs. Conrad Gnagay and Mrs. Jacob Kinsinger.Twenty-three years ago she was married to Nicholas Platter, who survives her, also one son and three daughters.Mrs. Platter was an invalid for about fifteen years, and at times suffered greatly.She was a lifelong member of the Reformed church, and was present with her husband at the Whitsuntide communion at the Wilhelm church in last May.The funeral services were held in this church on Monday afternoon last, her pastor, Rev. E. S. Hassler, preaching from the text, Rev. 22:8, "There shall be no more curse."Burial in the family lot of cemetery adjoining the church."
