I see that everyone is busy to find the Plume surname.... Actually the surname of Jane was Eagle Plume and not that of a single last name as she was the daughter of Chief Eagle Plume according to LDS microfilm. She did not come over from England on the Bride Ship but was actually living in an Indian Village near Jamestown.By 1611 then making peace with the settlers at Jamestown, then John Dods and Jane Eagle Plume were married. The sons of John Dods however did take wives from the Brides Ships as they did not begin to arrive until after the sons were of age to marry. There were over 100 Indian camps or villages in the area when Capt. John Smith arrived on the Susan Constant per Dept. of Interior. No, I do not have definite information of Chief Eagle Plume as Powhatan did not make record of many of his Chiefs.I do feel that the information may be housed in the library at Richmond, Va. in some of their very old books with family history information. To anyone living in the area of Richmond and with access to the library then I would appreciate a response as this would help many family members in their search for Chief Eagle Plume.
